We will invite Ms. Colleen Meyers, who teaches in the Center for Teaching & Learning at the University of Minnesota, to give MN-CITA members a second talk on presentation and communication skills. Colleen is the co-author of Communicate: Strategies for International Teaching Assistants and The Pronunciation for Success teacher-training materials and self-study course. She has over twenty years' experience working with ITAs from China. Colleen recently completed a Fulbright Grant in Ankara, Turkey.
Contents:
- Hour 1: Asking Questions to Know & Involve your Audience --types of questions & question intonation
- Hour 2: Handling Questions from your Audience--how to answer clearly, directly, and concisely
- Hour 3: Discussion and/or Role play of Day-to-Day Challenges at work (with supervisors, subordinates, peers, etc.)
